Achtsam Morden
A german series that actually won me over, against all odds.

okay i have to admit something first: i generally do not like german productions. not movies, not series, doesn't matter. something about the pacing, the acting, the humor just never clicked for me. i've tried, i really have.
then i watched achtsam morden and it completely blew my mind.
it's about a mafia lawyer who, after a burnout, gets into mindfulness and self-help books and starts applying all that "be present" and "let go of anger" philosophy to his very much not peaceful job. the result is this wild mix of comedy and crime drama that somehow just works.
the acting is genuinely good, which is rare enough for me to say about a german show. the comedic timing is on point and the more serious mafia stuff never feels out of place next to the jokes. it's a tricky balance to pull off and the show nails it.
i went in with basically zero expectations, mostly because of the "made in germany" label, and came out really impressed. if you're on the fence like i was, just give it a shot.
show is running on netflix actually having two series but another one is planned.
